Here’s a quick recap:
Here’s my quick and dirty list of things you can do to ramp up and get started buying, bartering, and organizing yourself right away:
Gather the items you expect to use at least once a week. These will include any electronics, software, supplies, furniture, computer stuff, phone line, printer, fax, copier, material used to create product, filing cabinet, white board, etc. Before you decide to buy something brand new, always check out market places like Craig’s list, eBay, Amazon, clearance sales and newspapers.
Get a dedicated business email. This is important because as your business grows, it will help you to keep your personal emails separate from your business stuff. Keep all of your business contact information as consistent as possible.
Make a digital disaster plan. As more and more business goes online, you need a trusty computer as well as other technology related devices that you can depend on to keep your business moving forward. You don’t want to have a hard deadline and your computer crashes on you. Saving and backing up any of your important work is a must. There are many ways that you can achieve this. I share those methods in the mini-course video.
Get yourself a good chair and other accessories. This helps you avoid back and wrist pain later down the line.
Get business cards. Many people would argue with me today and say that business cards are becoming obsolete given the explosion of websites and all. Cards are still great for networking events and to hand out quickly to potential clients and business prospects.
Get a good accountant and attorney. Since you are a officially self-employed you won’t be getting taxes taken out of whatever money you earn so it’s good to start looking at how you will handle your tax matters early on.
